HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR JEWELLERY & ACCESSORIES

YOUR ORIGINAL VERSION JEWELLERY ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS

Whether you wear them every day or only occasionally, your pieces of jewellery are precious objects that require care and attention.

The recommendations below will help you to preserve them in their original condition.

  • Allow yourself the necessary time to be able to handle your jewellery carefully.
  • Ensure that you remove your jewellery when washing your hands and putting on perfume or face cream. The particles present in these cosmetics, when not eliminated by prompt rinsing, may become lodged in cavities and form a corrosive blend of materials. In the longer term this may lead to premature deterioration of the metal.
  • Regular contact with household detergents or insecticides may damage pearls and certain precious stones.
  • Products containing mercury, such as Mercurochrome, cause irreversible damage to gold.
  • Take your regular activities into account when choosing your jewellery. Avoid wearing them on the beach, at the swimming pool or to play sport so as to avoid knocks and scratches. Wearing your jewellery should also be avoided when doing housework or gardening.
  • Avoid the friction caused by sliding your pendant on its chain or wearing several rings on the same finger.
  • Ensure you do not place your jewellery too close to sources of intense heat, to X-rays or to other sources of radioactivity.

SOME PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Before putting on your piece of jewellery, examine it for a moment:

  • check that the clasp (and its safety catch if it has one) is not "loose":
  • check that the settings of the stones have not moved, as follows:
    • by shaking the piece of jewellery close to your ear: if you hear a slight noise, this means that the stones are no longer perfectly secured;
    • by rubbing the piece of jewellery against a thin cloth: if the cloth catches, this means that the prongs have moved.

If you are in the slightest doubt, it is advisable not to wear your piece of jewellery until you have had it checked at an Original Version shop.

MAINTAINING YOUR JEWELLERY IN GOOD CONDITION

Your jewellery should be cleaned regularly.

If it contains a significant cluster of stones, the task of cleaning it should be entrusted to one of our specialists at an Original Version shop.

If it does not include these types of stone, you may carry out the cleaning yourself. Brush the jewellery delicately with a very soft small brush in lukewarm soapy water, carefully rinse it in lukewarm water and wipe it with a soft cloth.

STORING YOUR JEWELLERY

Pieces of jewellery become scratched when they come into contact with one another. We recommend you to store them individually in the original case that you were given at the time of purchase.

Chains should be closed and laid flat so as to avoid the formation of knots.

You are strongly advised not to place several pieces of jewellery together without protection.
